Certified Process Safety Management (CPSM)

About This Course

This course provides an in-depth study of each Process Safety Management (PSM) element. It introduces each element and outlines specific guidelines for integrating PSM requirements into other corporate programs, as well as evaluating program compliance throughout the implementation phase.

The course also covers how to expand a PSM program to include Risk-Based Process Safety (RBPS) elements as proposed by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), a division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Case studies and exercises are used throughout the course to illustrate interpretations of the requirements and demonstrate methods for developing an effective PSM program, including several video-based case studies.

What You'll Learn

Interpret the performance-based requirements of the U.S. OSHA PSM and EPA risk management standards, and learn about related industry standards. Understand the process safety elements often missing from typical PSM systems, including Human Factors (communication, human system interface, work environment, staffing, and fitness for duty) and Facility Siting. Explore multiple options for implementing an effective, need-specific PSM program. Follow specific guidelines for developing cost-effective written programs tailored to each PSM element, whether for a single facility or an entire corporation.
