At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of expert witness responsibilities and
legal obligations.
Apply accepted investigative methodologies to complex cases.
Analyze evidence and develop supportable conclusions.
Prepare professional expert reports capable of withstanding legal
scrutiny.
Present technical findings clearly and effectively.
Demonstrate confidence during depositions and courtroom testimony.
Identify and avoid ethical violations and conflicts of interest.
Explain applicable standards, regulations, and industry practices.
Support opinions using reliable evidence and accepted
methodologies.
Operate as an effective consulting or testifying expert witness.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or physics OR a bachelor’s
degree in a closely related biological or physical science from an
accredited college or university. Three (3) years of acceptable work
experience may be substituted for each year of an academic degree
program (i.e. Twelve years of experience is equivalent to a bachelor’s
degree).
